The complex permittivity of sodium bis-2-ethyl-hexylsulfosuccinate (AO
T)-H2O-CCl4 microemulsions has been measured by a frequency domain coa
xial technique in the range 0.02-3 GHz as a function of molar ratio W=
[H2O]/[AOT], for small amounts of water (0.2<W<10). A relaxation proce
ss has been observed, whose behavior as a function of W has been inter
preted in terms of an increasing mobility of AOT ion pairs connected w
ith the hydration process of the micellar aggregates.
