V. Staudt, AN EXAMPLE FOR DYNAMIC COMPENSATION OF NON-ACTIVE POWER IN THE CASE OF NONLINEAR ACTIVE LOADS, EUROPEAN TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTRICAL POWER, 6(5), 1996, pp. 345-350
A lot of different definitions for active and non-active quantities an
d their compensation are known in case of single- or polyphase systems
under steady-state conditions. In practice the load as well as the so
urce of such a system is varying with time. This requires compensation
methods which are ready to deal with dynamic conditions. In the most
general case the load may be non-linear and even change from passive t
o active and vice versa; This paper presents a control scheme for a se
ries compensator (series active filter) in a single-phase circuit whic
h can handle a wide range of passive and active non-linear loads under
dynamic conditions. No information about the character of the source
and the load is required as long as load and source current can be con
trolled by appropriate voltages.
