A chronostratigraphical summary of the controversial Tethyan Murgabian
stage in Greece is given. Some biostratigraphical aspects of the Murg
abian deposits from three greek islands are described : Hydra with Neo
schwagerina craticulifera and Chusenella conicocylindrica; Crete with
Neoschwagerina margaritae and Staffellidae; Mytilene, where the Murgab
ian is pointed out for the first time, with Neoschwagerina craticulife
ra a and Chusenella minuta. Several implications about the Fusulinoids
repartition and about the Western Tethys paleogeography are indicated
.
