We present the results of controlled blurring of an image using a mult
iple-point impulse response and thereafter recovering the original sce
ne using a generalized inverse filter, The multiple-point impulse resp
onse consists of delta-function impulses irregularly positioned within
a prescribed area. This impulse response is shown to degrade the imag
e beyond recognition. Excellent recoveries are obtained for pictorial
and textural images. An important result is that the zeros of the tran
sfer function occur at discrete locations and therefore have a negligi
ble effect on the image recovery using the generalized inverse filter.
