Abstract
The dynamical response of a double-barrier resonant-tunneling structur e (DBRTS) on external ac bias V(t) is studied. The rate equation for t he occupation number of the level in the DBRTS well as well as the con ditions required for this equation are derived in the case of coherent tunneling. The analysis of the equation in question provides the poss ibility to obtain easily the analytic results for the current through the structure in all limiting cases of interest.
