S. Caldarelli, MEASURING MAGNETIC DIPOLE COUPLINGS IN ANISOTROPIC PHASES, Journal de chimie physique et de physico-chimie biologique, 92(10), 1995, pp. 1695-1708
A survey of experimental methods is presented that allow the measureme
nt of magnetic dipole couplings by nuclear magnetic resonance spectros
copy in liquid crystalline phases. Several techniques are employed, al
one or in combination, to simplify and interpret the spectra arising f
rom medium-size molecules in anisotropic phases. Among those, chemical
substitution of protons by deuterium nuclei, multidimensional spectro
scopy and rapid mechanical rotation of the sample.
