Abstract
H-1 NMR analysis was carried out to determine the nature and the conce ntration of the poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) accumulated by Rhizobiu m meliloti M5N1. The PHA was identified as being poly(3-hydroxybutyrat e) (PHB). Benzene was shown to meet all the requirements of an interna l reference for PHB quantification. NMR data were in good agreement wi th corresponding data obtained by Gas Chromatography (GC) analysis.
