Abstract
Zero-field splittings and the kinetic parameters associated with the t riplet spin sublevels of both the triplet pipi and the triplet ligand -ligand charge-transfer states were measured by the optically-detected magnetic-resonance method for a series of complexes with a d10 closed -shell metal ion of the type, Zn(X-PhS)2(phen), where X = F5, 4-Cl, H, 4-CH3, or 4-CH3O. Both the zero-field splittings and the kinetic deca y parameters are satisfactorily interpreted in terms of mixing between the lowest phen-localized 3pipi and ligand-ligand charge-transfer st ates.
