Abstract
The optical properties (interband and intraband absorption) of a recen tly proposed structure-twinning superlattices-in diamond-type and zinc -blende-type semiconductors are calculated and discussed. The conducti on-band intraband absorption is found to be rather weak, but the intra band absorption between the valence-band states has rather high values . Direct (phononless) interband absorption in twinning superlattices b ased on indirect gap semiconductors like germanium is also found to be allowed.
