A model of an alkali metal generator of a membrane type has been built
. The generator consists of a feeding medium (volatile component A), a
diffusion-permeable membrane (intermetallic compound A(n)Me(m)) and a
protective film Me isolating the membrane from the environment. The s
ystem is initiated by simply raising its temperature. In approximation
of the immobility of interphase boundaries the problem of evaporation
in similar systems has been solved. It has been shown that the model
can be applied in cases when the rate of evaporation of the volatile c
omponent is much more than the rate of its diffusion through the membr
ane.
