SPECIFIC-PURPOSE FOOD IN COMPAGNION ANIMA LS - THE NEW DIRECTORIES OFTHE EUROPEAN-COMMUNITY AND PRACTICAL USE IN THE TREATMENT OF OBESITY

Specific - purpose food in compagnion animals: the new directories of the European Community and practical use in the treatment of obesity. Specific - purpose foods are often suggested by veterinarians in the t reatment of many diseases in compagnion animals. From 01/07/95, the di rectories of the European Community are applied. The present paper giv es a reading of these directories and comments on the characteristics of these foods, the specific - purpose objectives and their use. Final y, a dietetical approach of obesity is described using the different t ypes of specific-purpose foods actually on the market.
