Lp. Korsunskaya et al., SEASONAL-CHANGES IN ROOT BIOMASS, CARBOHYDRATE CONTENT, AND STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF GRAY FOREST SOIL, Eurasian soil science, 27(9), 1995, pp. 45-52
Seasonal changes in the biomass of roots present, soil carbohydrates,
content of aggregates, water-retention capacity, and bulk density were
measured in a Gray Forest soil planted to barley. The effect of roots
on macroporosity was demonstrated. Specific surface was measured reli
ably by oxidizing the carbohydrates in the samples using Cheshire's me
thod.
