GROWTH AND PROPERTIES OF CRYSTALS OF TL-BA-CA-CU-O SYSTEM

Crystals of T1-2223 and T1-2212 have been successfully grown by self-f lux method. The typical dimension in 1.0x1.0x0.1 mm(3), and crystals a s big as 2.0x2.0x0.3 mm(3) were also obtained. The transition temperat ure of crystals of T1-2212 and T1-2223 were 110 and 119K, respectively . Detailed studies on the effect of the cooling rate as well as T1 con tent were conducted The results of X-ray diffraction experiments, SEM and EDX are also presented. AC susceptibility measurements were carrie d out on a T1-2212 single crystal under various external magnetic fiel ds applied normal to a-b plane. Measurements of reflectance spectra we re also applied to a single crystal of T1-2223 to investigate the opti cal anisotropy of T1-2223.
