R. Hattori et al., PREFERENTIAL INHIBITION OF INDUCIBLE NITRIC-OXIDE SYNTHASE BY EBSELEN, European journal of pharmacology. Molecular pharmacology section, 267(2), 1994, pp. 1-2
Ebselen, 2-phenyl-1,2-benzisoselenazole-3(2H)-one can preferentially i
nhibit the activity of inducible nitric oxide (NO) synthase with littl
e inhibition of endothelial constitutive NO synthase within a certain
concentration range. This suggests that ebselen deserves further in vi
vo studies to examine its possible application to the therapy of septi
c shock where inducible NO synthase is responsible for vasodilation.
