INFLUENCE OF TILLAGE AND FERTILIZERS ON AGROPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF TYPIC CHERNOZEM OF THE CIS-URALS

This paper outlines the results of long-term (1985-1991) field and lab oratory studies of the influence of different tillage systems on the h ydrophysical properties and water regime of Typic Chernozem and the yi eld of agricultural crops under conditions of the steppe zone of Bashk ortostan. The favorable structural state, high water resistance, and o ptimal consistency of the investigated Typic Chernozems, conditioned b y their genesis and high natural fertility, are preserved relatively s tably by the agrotechnical practices utilized. Soil-conservation tilla ge systems (combined, no-till) and the organic and mineral fertilizers used help prevent erosion.
