Abstract
A new phase of the mixed material zirconium phosphomolybdate, prepared with good column exchange capacity, has been characterised by element al analysis, thermal studies, FTIR and surface area measurements. The material has been studied in detail for its exchange capacity, distrib ution behaviour for 12 metal ions and its performance compared with th ose of zirconium phosphate and zirconium molybdate. The utility of thi s exchanger is shown by achieving some binary separations of metal ion s on its column.
