Abstract
For the production of DWI beverage cans, the strip thickness must be a s constant as possible along the product. A working group including So llac, Irsid and Clecim has studied ways of improving this regularity o n the 5-stand tandem mill of Mardyck. A new gauge control system has b een developed : it allows to eliminate completely the defects which ar e in phase with the rotation of the back-up rolls of stands 2 and 3. T he tolerance is then improved up to +/- 1.5 %.
