Abstract
Purified cell-envelope polyphosphatase and polyphosphatase activities of vacuole and cytosol preparations from the yeast Saccharomyces cerev isiae were comparatively characterized. The data now available show th at each of the studied organelles has its own unique polyphosphatase. This organelle specificity of yeast polyphosphatases may reflect the e ndosymbiotic origin of eucaryotic cells.
