A voltammetric study of a Pt electrode in pyrrole-polyvinylsulphonate
(PVS) aqueous solutions, showing different concentrations of the polye
lectrolyte was performed. Potential range for the composite (polypyrro
le-PVS) reversible redox behaviour for its passivation, and for the wa
ter discharge were studied by voltammetry. The electropolymerization o
f composite films of polypyrrole-polyvinyl sulphonate was performed un
der a constant potential of 800 mV from aqueous solutions. Parallel ki
netics through es-situ microgravimetric determination of the dry film
weights, through electrical charges consumed during the electropolymer
ization, and through electrical charge consumed during the electropoly
merization, and through electrical charge stored in the electroactive
films were obtained. The polymerization mechanism change along the pol
ymerization time, giving low current efficiencies and low storage of c
harge per gram of polymer.
