Na. Barbarash et al., A METHOD OF BEHAVIORAL PREVENTION OF RISE IN RISK OF CARDIOVASCULAR-DISEASES IN MEDICAL-STUDENTS, Kardiologia, 35(7), 1995, pp. 44-48
A system of nonmedical interventions directed to improvement of studen
ts klowledge on their health, biological age, risk to develop a diseas
e, methods of risk factor correlation and self assessment of health st
atus Is proposed. This system was tested on a group of 300 medical stu
dents aged 17-23 years (125 students of control group and 175 students
who participated in educational program on prevention of cardiovascul
ar diseases). Duration of the study was 10 months, In the control grou
p by the end of this term an increase in the number and level of risk
factors and worsening of parameters of health were observed. In the ''
intervention'' group there was a decrease in the number of persons pro
ne to exaggerrated psyche-emotional reactions and intensity of these r
eactions became less pronounced. In this group an abnormal gain in bod
y mass was prevented and the number of smokers among girls decreased w
hile parameters of general health did not worsen.
