A steady-state model for gas permeation by hollow membrane fibers is d
eveloped for a multicomponent ideal gas system in countercurrent flow.
Gas phase diffusion is shown to dominate transport in the substrate m
aking local bore concentration, not diffusing species flux fraction, t
he appropriate measure of permeate activity for this experimental syst
em. The model is able to predict the experimental trends in a O-2/N-2/
polysulfone system.
