Dozens of companies working with the University of Wisconsin-Madison's
Center for Quick Response Manufacturing are proof that U.S, companies
still have a long way to go with regard to understanding and implemen
ting speed-based strategies. Furthermore, the Center's partnership wit
h a variety of manufacturers illustrates that universities can provide
industry with practical knowledge, and assist them with implementing
solutions to their current problems. In return, university students an
d faculty benefit from the interaction as they learn about the needs o
f industry and gain real-life exposure to practical problem-solving ex
periences that they will not encounter in the classroom.
