Abstract
Within an extension of Migdal's method and mean field theory we study the layering transitions temperature, T(L), for a spin 1/2 Ising model under uniform and variable magnetic field in a film of finite thickne ss limited by a single substrate. General formula are given for an arb itrary number N of layers. Phase diagrams are given for N = 3.
