P. Level et al., IMPLEMENTATION OF A MODAL REANALYSIS METHOD IN A FINITE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS CONTEXT, Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, 126(3-4), 1995, pp. 239-249
This paper refers to the modal reanalysis method known as 'receptance
approach'. After a brief theoretical background showing the good poten
tial of the method in the case of large modelizations of conservative
structures, several difficulties in the sense of numerical calculation
s are pointed out. Solutions are then given which lead to propose a ge
neral algorithm for the resolution of structural modification problems
using the described method. Particular attention is given to the redu
ction of the data area in central memory and to the efficiency in term
s of calculation time. Numerical results for small and large structure
s are given which show the accuracy of the method and its stability wh
en the parameters of the modifications are varying. Concerning the com
putational time, it is clearly shown that a single reanalysis is not a
ttractive but if multiple reanalyses of the same structure are require
d, the proposal algorithm can offer a very interesting solution.
