The biomimetic hydroxylation of methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate with molecula
r oxygen has been observed in the presence of sodium dithionite and fl
avin mononucleotide in AOT reverse micelles in different reaction cond
itions. Formation of methyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate in AOT reverse micel
les is more than in biphasic conditions and is governed by water to su
rfactant ratio (W-O) and pH of the reaction media.
