Abstract
Mycobacterium tuberculosis accelerates the progression of human immuno deficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. The results of this study, which show that thalidomide inhibits the upregulation of HIV-1 express ion in U1 cells stimulated with mycobacterial lipoarabinomannans, supp ort the rationale behind conducting controlled trials of this immunomo dulatory agent with patients dually infected with HIV-1 and M. tubercu losis.
