C. Grama et al., APPROXIMATE PENETRATION FACTOR AND REDUCED WIDTH FOR A DIFFUSE EDGE WELL, ZEITSCHRIFT FUR PHYSIK A-HADRONS AND NUCLEI, 353(2), 1995, pp. 167-174
The so-called anticlassical approximation for solutions of the radial
Schrodinger equation with rapidly varying potentials U(r) for which \(
kU)(-1)dU/dr\ much greater than 1 is worked out. With the diffuseness
as a small parameter and using the method of matched asymptotic expans
ions the regular and irregular wave functions for the Woods-Saxon pote
ntial well with Coulomb and centrifugal barrier are obtained. The pene
tration factor and the reduced width are also deduced and used to expr
ess the resonance width.
