Av. Snegursky et al., ON THE ROLE OF AUTOIONIZING AND AUTODETACHING STATES IN THE EXCITATION OF METASTABLE LEVELS IN THE AUTOIONIZING ENERGY REGION - HELIUM, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(8), 1994, pp. 1589-1597
New data on the electron-impact excitation of metastable He(2(3.1)S) s
tates in the 57-61 eV energy region are presented. Experimental differ
ential cross sections for metastable formation were measured with high
energy (approximately 0.08 eV) and angular (approximately 0.1-degrees
) resolution by means of a metastable spectroscopy technique. The reso
nance-like structure observed is classified as related both to autoion
izing and autodetaching states using the density functional theory met
hod.
