Abstract
Blood product transfusion is a common and essential therapeutic modali ty in veterinary medicine; however, this therapy is not innocuous. The responsible use of transfusion therapy must include a knowledge of th e potential adverse effects that may occur as a consequence of a blood transfusion. This article reviews the various types of transfusion re actions in dogs, including pathophysiology, prevention, monitoring, an d treatment.
