J. Ruth et al., FERROELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF MIXTURES OF A LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE POLYMER AND ITS SIDE-GROUP MESOGEN, Liquid crystals, 16(5), 1994, pp. 883-892
We present the results of our studies of the ferroelectric properties
of mixtures of a high polarization, ferroelectric liquid crystalline c
opolymer and its side-group antecedent, a high polarization, low molec
ular weight, ferroelectric mesogen. These two materials are found to b
e completely miscible in all proportions. Spontaneous polarization val
ues and electro-optical response times are found to be monotonic funct
ions of the weight percentage of the mesogen in the mixture, while opt
ical tilt angles do not exhibit such a monotonic dependence.
