Abstract
Near-infrared photoacoustic spectra of powdered homo-polypeptides are reported. A theoretical framework based on the local mode model is pre sented for the near-infrared spectra. Guided by local mode model predi ctions and the mid-infrared homo-polypeptide mode frequencies, detaile d spectral assignments are made, and the structural significance of th e assignments is discussed.
