A genetically marked insecticide-susceptible strain of the German cock
roach, Blattella germanica (L.), has been developed by incorporating t
he orange-body trait into a stock containing the genomes of 2 of the m
ost susceptible strains available. The new stock retained its suscepti
bility as indicated by tarsal contact tests with 12 insecticides. The
integrity of the stock can be ensured by removing any wild type body c
olor contaminants. This stock is well suited to become the standard-su
sceptible strain for the German cockroach and is available upon reques
t.
