The signs and symptoms of an acute retrobulbar hemorrhage include sudd
en ocular pain, explosive unilateral proptosis, limitation of extraocu
lar movements and loss of vision. Retrobulbar hemorrhage is a well-des
cribed complication of retrobulbar anesthetic injection.(4) We report
an unusual case of a presumed acute retrobulbar hemorrhage following i
ntraocular surgery which, on further testing, was found to be a delaye
d suprachoroidal hemorrhage.
