L. Poncelet et al., SUCCESSFUL REMOVAL OF AN INTRAMEDULLARY SPINAL PARAGANGLIOMA FROM A DOG, The Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 30(3), 1994, pp. 213-216
An 11-year-old, mixed-breed dog suffering progressive asymmetric hind
limb ataxia was diagnosed as having spinal cord compression at the L1
spinal level. An intramedullary, encapsulated tumor was surgically rem
oved. Tumor microscopic features, positive neuron-specific enolase (NS
E) immunostaining, and Grimelius staining led to the diagnosis of para
ganglioma. The dog was free from any neuroloaic signs 12 days after su
rgery.
