A 10-year-old, intact male golden retriever was evaluated for a rostra
l mandibular mass, halitosis, and difficulty in prehension. Radiograph
s showed severe osteolysis of the left rostral hemimandible and mild i
nvolvement of the right. A rostral mandibulectomy was performed. A dia
gnosis of an odontogenic keratocyst was made by histological examinati
on. The characteristics of the cyst are discussed, and comparative asp
ects with the human lesion are considered.
