Approx. 1.8 millions of Turks, living and working in Germany show a hi
gh morbidity and mortality of coronary heart disease. Smoking, as well
as the unfavourable lipid constellation with low HDL-C and high LDL-C
levels are the main causes. Diabetes and Hypertension don't seem to p
lay a significant role. Compared with Germans the manifestation of CHD
among Turks is 10 years earlier. Probably ethnic characteristics play
also an important role. The presented studies show the necessity of p
revention by treating the above mentioned risk factors. This paper is
based on four previously published studies and an original study which
prove this statement.
