Abstract
The paper compares geometries of large-opening sucker-rod pump wells w
ith typical devices, Standard ball valve packing mechanism is assessed
and their disadvantages are shown. One of valve improvement direction
s is using plug-type shutoff elements. It has been found that employme
nt of large size valve units can considerably increase valve seat open
ing thus reducing hydraulic resistance for pumped liquid.
