Variability of radioactive background in the ocean causing inconstancy
of the potassium-chlorine ratio have been considered. Double-diffusiv
e convection in ''diffusive'' form is examined to evaluate possible de
partures from constancy of ion-chlorine ratios. The equations for diff
usion of major ions of seawater over the density interface have been d
eveloped. Dissipation of double-layers structure increases potassium-c
hlorine ratio in the upper layer by 0.34% and by 0.79% if thermodiffus
ion is taken into account and not taken into account accordingly.
