ABNORMAL VISCOSITY OF AL ELECTRORHEOLOGY FLUID

The viscosity of the mixture of metal particles Al and silica oil is s tudied under different sc electric field at room temperature. The visc osity increases with rising field until a maximum (about two times of that at zero field) at about 2.5 MV/m and a tendency of decrease appea rs after this critical held. Microscope observation shows that this sp ecial behavior corresponds to the formation and destruction of fiber s tructure in Al electro-rheology fluids.
