Abstract
For more than 3 months, a young male soccer player had groin pain diag nosed as stemming from a ''tight groin.'' His discomfort, however, was characteristic of the over-use injury osteitis pubis: gradually worse ning pain with significant tenderness on palpation of the symphysis pu bis, X-ray and bone scan verified the diagnosis, Conservative treatmen t for osteitis pubis is often successful; our patient responded to a t ypical regimen of rest; flexibility and strength exercises for the low back, hip, and thigh; and a gradual return to running and full soccer activity.
