Abstract
Two-dimensional Fourier transform profilometry (2-D FTP) for the autom atic measurement of three-dimensional (3-D) object shapes is presented and verified by the experiment in this paper. In some applications, i n which there are specklelike structures and discontinuity in the obse rved fringe pattern, 2-D FTP provides a better separation of the heigh t information from noise.
