Dj. Darensbourg et al., SUPERCRITICAL CARBON-DIOXIDE AS SOLVENT FOR THE COPOLYMERIZATION OF CARBON-DIOXIDE AND PROPYLENE-OXIDE USING A HETEROGENEOUS ZINC CARBOXYLATE CATALYST, Journal of molecular catalysis. A, Chemical, 104(1), 1995, pp. 1-4
Supercritical carbon dioxide was found to be a suitable substitute for
halogenated organic solvents in its copolymerization with propylene o
xide. The system was studied utilizing a heterogenous catalyst, zinc g
lutarate. The polymers were analyzed for selectivity in polycarbonate
linkages by H-1 NMR spectroscopy and for molecular weight by gel perme
ation chromatography.
