A new C-50-hydroperoxide (1) with a hitherto unknown constitution, con
taining cadinane hydroperoxide and hyperforin (2) as partial structure
s, was isolated from the stems and leaves of St. John's wort (Hypericu
m perforatum L., Hypericaceae). The structure was elucidated by high-r
esolution NMR techniques (1D and 2D NMR experiments).
