T. Takeichi et al., STUDY ON THE THERMAL-STABILITY OF A CHIRAL STATIONARY-PHASE COATED ONCAPILLARIES FOR GC, HRC. Journal of high resolution chromatography, 18(10), 1995, pp. 630-634
A chiral stationary phase prepared by bonding L-valine-t-butylamide to
XE-60 has been coated on glass and metal capillaries, The performance
s of the chiral glass and metal columns were equivalent to those of co
mmercial fused silica capillary columns, The thermal stability of the
glass column was examined up to 280 degrees C. It was found that no ap
preciable change in separation factor (alpha value) was observed up to
230 degrees C. The alpha values gradually decreased between 240 and 2
60 degrees C, and enantiomer separation was no longer achieved at 280
degrees C, It was concluded that the allowable upper limit temperature
of the chiral stationary phase is between 230 and 240 degrees C in th
e isothermal mode, and ca 260 degrees C in temperature-programmed mode
