A total of 61 hybrid sows from a Yorkshire, Landrace, Duroc and Hampsh
ire rotational crossbred in their fourth reproductive cycle was used a
ccording to a random block design in two experiments. The objective wa
s to reduce the traditional Feeds in the rations and homemade protein
and molasses B were included. Experiment 1 showed that 25% of the feed
during the gestation period 60% of the soybean meal in the diet can b
e reduced without affecting the performance of sows or piglets. Net we
ight gain of sows and live weight of the at weaning were 13.0, 9.3 and
10.3 kg, 6.23, 6.30 and 5.73 kg for the control, the reduction of 25%
of the feed and the elimination of 60% of the soybean meal, respectiv
ely. In experiment 2 it was demonstrated that 60 and 100% of soybean m
eal can be reduced during the gestation and lactation periods without
affecting live weight of the piglets at weaning (7.03 vs 6.73 kg). It
is concluded that HPM fan be employed to cover the protein deficiency
of molasses and with both products, the traditional feeds can reduced.
Further studies are necessary on this matter.
