Dh. Madison et al., 2ND-ORDER DISTORTED-WAVE CALCULATION FOR ELECTRON-COPPER SCATTERING, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 28(22), 1995, pp. 4841-4851
Second-order distorted-wave Born results are reported for electron-cop
per scattering for incident electrons with energy between 10 and 100 e
V. The importance of the second-order effects of polarization and abso
rption is examined. Both differential and integrated cross sections ar
e presented and compared with existing experimental and theoretical re
sults. Good agreement between experiment and theory is found for the i
ntegrated cross sections if the theoretical results are adjusted to th
e known optical oscillator strength. For the differential cross sectio
ns, on the other hand, there is almost an order of magnitude differenc
e between theory and experiment for large scattering angles.
