Radioiodine-131 has attained a significant role in the treatment of di
fferentiated thyroid cancer. The most favorable outcome can be expecte
d when iodine-131 is used in coordination with meticulous surgery and,
rarely, with radiograph therapy and chemotherapy. A standard radioiod
ine regimen has proven itself for the majority of these patients and e
nsures few complications of a transient and benign nature.
