Abstract
The title complex, bis [bis(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-ammonium] bis [mu-cyanodithiocarbamato(2-)-S:S']-digold(I), [(C18H15P)(2)N](2) [Au-2 (C2N2S2)(2)], displays a short Au ... Au contact of 2.823 (1) Angstrom , which is slightly longer than the value of 2.796(1)Angstrom found in the similar structure of the anionic Au-2(i-mnt)(2)(2-) dimer (i-mnt is 1,1-dicyano-2,2-ethenedithiolate). The complex oxidatively adds hal ogens to form green Au-II dimers which are unstable at room temperatur e.
