Abstract
The title nitrile, -(4-methylphenyl)-1-phenylpyrazole-5-acetonitrile, C18H15N3, is one of the products obtained from the reaction of ano-6-( 4-methylphenyl)-4-methylthio-2-oxo-2H-pyran with phenylhydrazine. The asymmetric unit contains two almost identical molecules differing only in the orientations of the phenyl and methylphenyl groups with respec t to the planar pyrazole nucleus.
