Abstract
Capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) with multi-wavelength detection w as used for the separation of the main alkaloids from Chelidonium maju s. Optimum separation was achieved with a fused-silica capillary tube (70 cm x 50 mu m I.D.) and a running electrolyte at pH 5.5 prepared fr om 40 mM citric acid and 80 mM Na2HPO4 solutions. Addition of beta-cyc lodextrin (12.5 mmol/l) to the buffer system was found to be essential for the separation. The applied voltage was 25 kV and the capillary t emperature was kept constant at 25 degrees C.
